EU Industrial Maritime and Port Strategies :
Turning Plans into Action

Hosted by MEP Jeannette BALJEU, SEArica Member

Organised with the support of the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions and Waterborne Technology Platform

WEDNESDAY 22 APRIL 2026 – 13:00 to 14:30

European Parliament, Room ANTALL 4Q1, Brussels

The European Commission published the Industrial Maritime Strategy and the EU Port Strategy on the 4th of March. The event will provide an early opportunity for structured discussion on implementation pathways, and in particular on how Research, Development & Innovation (RD&I), upscaling and deployment contribute to achieving the objectives of these strategies. The event is envisaged as a forum bringing together public and private stakeholders to exchange views on priority actions, identify enabling conditions and highlight the role of RD&I in accelerating deployment, ensuring a competitive, resilient and sustainable future.  Discussions will cover enabling conditions, such as fuel and energy supply, port and infrastructure readiness, onboard integration, regulatory and standardisation aspects, as well as education, training and skills needs.
